No Time For College? Try eLearning

With growing competition, it is essential for one and all to keep on their toes and keep improving their skillsets, maybe also get higher education in their fields and get more degrees to follow their names. With online education and eLearning, this has become far simpler with drawbacks like commute, time, distance and giving up your job being done away with. Terms such as CBT (Computer Based Training), IBT (Internet Based Training) or WBT (Web Based Training) are also commonly used in place of eLearning or taking online courses.

E-learning includes all forms of electronically supported learning and teaching. You can find information on various online courses and degree programs in almost all subjects and vocations. You can find online degree programs in music and aviation too apart form the regular subjects. Research suggests that today more than 40 per cent of post-secondary students in the USA were taking some or all of their courses online. Such is the power and convenience of eLearning.

For the students who need help with their education fees, they can apply for aid here: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. Get help to pay for your college fees and then one can more than repay with the increase in income after one has completed their course.

A Doctor’s Life

My niece is visiting from Manchester. She just completed medical school. Yesterday, she mentioned about now beginning to look for a job in a reputable hospital. She was lining up interviews and meetings and was pretty nervous about them if I may say so. She spent an entire evening at the computer researching and preparing.

Apparently a lot goes into preparing for the real world as a doctor. It’s not just about getting through medical school. There are many courses and seminars and help websites that help people preapre for just that. Interviews, seminars, lectures, you name it!

New Year Resolutions to Help You Save Money

They say that New Year resolutions, made with such a firmness of purpose rarely last beyond the month of January. But they also say that well begun is half done; if you do make any resolutions, persist with them and then you will see results for sure! I don’t generally make any resolutions, simply decide to do some things differently in the coming year than I did earlier. So this year I plan to….

Ride my bike more: I am going to ride the bike to go to the store to get things, and run other errands. This will help me two fold, I will use the car less and thus save me a lot in terms of fuel. It will also help me to get a nice little work out since I often find myself so strapped for time that I can’t go for walks the way I like to do.

The Best Recipe Sites

I finished reading my regular blogs and every time I visit stephenfung.net, I end up feeling hungry and longing for some tasty treats, so you can say that it was Stephen Fung that inspired me to do this post.

Ok the reason that I am such a great cook (so I have been told repeatedly; it’s not just my own conceit speaking), is for two reasons: I love good food and I am self taught. If there is a particular dish that I like to eat, I teach myself to cook it. And there is this incredible resource which gives you every recipe you can possibly dream of and that is the World Wide Web. For years now, I have not bought a recipe book; simply because any recipe that I want I can find on the internet free of charge! And the really good thing is that you can browse by cuisine, calorie, snacks, desert, main course or just about any criterion.

Good Deals on Sporting Goods

The Olympics came and went, and I thought I should mark the summer games by doing a post about the deals and discounts available on sporting items to see if we can’t mobilize ourselves to get up and into a sport or activity of some sort.

Girls bicycleI maintain that cycling is one of the best ways to get around and stay fit. It is a habit you can start your kids off on at an early age and I thought this Girls BMX bike would be something that any little girl would love to have and I thought $82.99 is a really good price (about a 16% discount). This mountain bike is available for a 24% discount at $189.99 and many others; see the whole range here.

Free Online Language Resources

Well I am a blogger right? So needless to say, language interests me greatly, and I like to think that I have a not inconsiderable vocabulary (I know words like eldritch, egregious, pasquinade and I could go on but I don’t want to show off :) ). Now I know that this has nothing to do with bargain hunting and great prices here, but the fact is that there are all these FREE resources out there, that if you don’t know about, you can’t take advantage of, and that would be a shame now, wouldn’t it? For instance, all these resources will save you having to ever buy another dictionary or thesaurus again, so that is a great saving!

DictionaryThere are a lot of online resources that can help us to improve our vocabulary and language skills, all for free. Did you, for instance, know that you can improve your vocabulary by signing up to receive a word and its meaning everyday delivered daily to your email inbox? One word, along with its meaning, origin, usage, variations, pronunciation (including audio pronunciation) is emailed to you each day. You can sign up to receive the word of the day here, and also browse to find the meaning of any word. Wordsmith.org has a similar daily newsletter which teaches you a word a day and has an anagram server as well.
