Those of us who have pets know that a pet is pretty much a part of the family and as part of the family we want what is best for our pet. If you remember, I did a post a few days back about digital cameras, but somehow I felt that it was kind of incomplete without doing a roundup of all the camcorders, or movie cameras or digital video recorders or handycams, call them what you will. Fact is I don’t have one, and what holiday is complete without holiday movies for heaven’s sake! How can I show my face at a tourist spot without a handycam in tow duly forming extension of arm!

Time was it was the Japanese who were seen in every nook and cranny of a tourist spot, sporting the latest, the tiniest, the most sophisticated cameras ever, wide smile unwaveringly fixed in place, but now pretty much everyone seems to have one, so why not me, I say! Let’s explore the possibilities shall we?

I don’t want anything too fancy (or complicated), just something that will help me capture when the kids do or say something really funny or something to shoot the animals at the zoo with; you know the kind of thing? OK now I looked for ‘Handycam’ and all I came up with is Sony models; how perplexing I thought! Then the penny dropped, Handycam is a trade mark name, much like ‘Walkman’ both of which are now pretty much generic. Duh!

When I go to the shops to buy shampoos, conditioners, leave-ins, gels, sprays, whatever, nothing ever seems to be available on discount. Normally I like to smell any hair product that I am thinking of buying and I buy it only if it smells really, really nice. But I am willing to forgo that luxury and buy online if that will fetch me some decent discounts.

Here I found some discounts on hair products such as this conditioning shampoo for men from Nautica for $7.70 down from the retail price of $15. Then this shampoo for colored hair is on a whopping 74% discount and is available for just $6.45. This Elizabeth Arden green tea conditioner also I thought was a good deal for $11.48 at a 36% discount.

I am desirous of new camera. I do not really need one; I have a perfectly adequate Canon 5 megapixel camera which takes very competent photos and even small video clips, but like I said I desire a new one. I covet all of the fancier newer models out there.

Now this Olympus 7.1 MP camera is supposed to be “Shockproof. Waterproof. Freezeproof. Crushproof.’ and is touted as “world’s most durable digital camera”! It is listed on Amazon for a mere $199 at a whopping 47% discount and I really have my beady eye on that one!

Does the urge to get fit and become a lean, mean fighting machine suddenly come upon you? It does me, from time to time. Buying fitness equipment or setting up a home gym is a considerable outlay and you need to think carefully about what exactly you need, what you budget is and if you have the space in your home to set up what you want to get.

I think that a combination of some form of cardiovascular exercise combined with some resistance training is a good overall fitness plan. So I thought that the basics needed for this plan would be say a treadmill or a stationary bike or an elliptical / stepper for the cardio and a basic multi station gym for the resistance/strength training would be quite enough to be getting on with. As for the sauna belts and vibra- this or that, take it from me: completely useless! There is a simple fitness mantra that I think is quite accurate: No Pain, No Gain (or as in this case, no loss).

I’ve talked about celebrity look alike items (or knock-offs if you prefer that term) before, and touched on the topic of handbags, but those among us who feel passionately about hand bags would agree that several posts and not just part of one post can be devoted to the topic of bags, bags and more bags! Since we are all about discounts or at the very least good value for money, let’s talk about designer ‘inspired’. My mom’s house needed some revamping and sprucing up. So I offered to help her out with it. We decided to start with getting a smart rug and changing some of the lamps and light fixtures. We picked up some of the ideas from my Home Decorating post. We got the rug that I featured in that post. Some good lamps and lights were next on the list. Since we needed a couple for each room, I decided to look it up deeper.

I found this site for all kinds of lighting solutions. They had an impressive collection of indoor lighting. I started looking around for what would fit perfectly into the home. Their products are well categorized making it very simple to find what you are looking for.

Recently my fav wristwatch finally died on me and the strange thing is I am not really missing it because the cell phone is my watch as well as my alarm clock now. Having said that, I miss the physical presence of an attractive watch on my wrist so I decided to look up online offers for wristwatches.

Watches gate is a site which has a dizzying array of really inexpensive options here, all for under $10! I was struck by this watch for under two bucks which claims to include a calculator as well! How long will that last I thought to myself, but even if it works for a couple of months, it’s still cheap at 2 bucks! And here is the irony of the cheap wristwatch: the watch itself is $2 and the shipping is $5! I have to admit, I found quite a few of the watches very tempting at those ridiculous prices!
