People, I just bought me a new cell phone: it is this really sleek and smart Nokia, from their XpressMusic series. I will freely confess that it was not a discount or anything of the sort that convinced me to buy it, just the fact that I thought that the phone I got was good value for money and feature packed and so pretty! I can’t help it; I love red, and the phone felt really nice in my hands! Besides I am brand loyal to Nokia, I have owned a Nokia for the past 4 years, and love its logical and easy navigation.

Now jewelry is not something that you and I buy routinely or casually, usually it is a rare buy for a special occasion or a special gift for a special someone. Certainly an excellent gift if that special someone is a woman! After all jewelry (not just diamonds) are supposed to be a girl’s best friend. If for instance a very good friend or close relative is getting married, or expecting a child or turning 25 or whatever, it behooves one to make a pretty substantial gift on the occasion.

Silver earrings or a silver ring would be a very appropriate for someone turning 25 (silver jubilee, 25 years get it?). Those of us who have pets know that a pet is pretty much a part of the family and as part of the family we want what is best for our pet. A pet’s needs are not many: food, immunization, accessories etc (for which we shall attempt to find good discounts) and of course lots of love (which cannot be bought and for which therefore we cannot go bargain hunting).

I’ve talked about celebrity look alike items (or knock-offs if you prefer that term) before, and touched on the topic of handbags, but those among us who feel passionately about hand bags would agree that several posts and not just part of one post can be devoted to the topic of bags, bags and more bags! Since we are all about discounts or at the very least good value for money, let’s talk about designer ‘inspired’. Let’s face it, if you want a smart, current look and don’t want to do that at the expense of a second mortgage, then you have to consider this option.

Recently my fav wristwatch finally died on me and the strange thing is I am not really missing it because the cell phone is my watch as well as my alarm clock now. Having said that, I miss the physical presence of an attractive watch on my wrist so I decided to look up online offers for wristwatches.

Watches gate is a site which has a dizzying array of really inexpensive options here, all for under $10! I was struck by this watch for under two bucks which claims to include a calculator as well! How long will that last I thought to myself, but even if it works for a couple of months, it’s still cheap at 2 bucks! And here is the irony of the cheap wristwatch: the watch itself is $2 and the shipping is $5! I have to admit, I found quite a few of the watches very tempting at those ridiculous prices!

Regular readers here will know about my love for shoes at a discount. If you are a woman, it will instantly be clear, the spell that shoe shopping can cast; the driving force that lust for shoes can be! If you are a man, try and work with me here, if you can’t empathize, at least try to sympathize. Let’s explore some online shoe shops today.

A site that sells all kinds of stuff including shoes is Zappos. They have shoes, clothing, bags, accessories and all kinds of other stuff. While this is not one of your bargain sites, it has the attractive feature of free shipping both ways (if the shoe doesn’t fit, ship it back free of charge). What interested me about the site is its designer shoes on sale segment which you may want to check out.

Piper lime is also a site that offers free shipping both ways. I loved these Thong dress sandals for $40. I also liked their smart gray pumps for $ 50. They have a really nice selection of shoes for under $75.

Another site for shoes is the self explanatory shoes.com with a very substantial sale section. These black crinkle patent shoes cost just $19.99; I think they are really smart.

Now sole fetish may not be to everyone’s taste, but there’s no cost to browse, so let’s check it out. If you are looking to stand out in a crowd, then this may be the place for you. As is my habit, I headed straight for the sale section there as well and look what I found: these (ahem!) eye-catching blue canvas boots were on sale for $55. And I actually liked these pink sandals for $70, down from $180.

Urban Original is another site which you may want to check out; it offers apparel, shoes, accessories, swimwear, lingerie, etc. There I found these lovely wedges for $14.99 down from 39.99! These black boots are available for the bargain price of $14.99 too, down from $79.99!

These gladiator like boot sandals are available for $ 30.99 down from $79.99.

In my last post I talked about desktop computers and laptops. Today let’s look at all the things that go with a PC, such as printers, scanners, external storage devices, flash memory cards etc.

A small portable storage device like a pen drive that you can carry everywhere you go can be a very convenient item especially for those people who carry work home. This 16 GB USB Flash Drive costs $61.49 and comes with free ground shipping.

If, like me, you listen to a lot of music on your computer, good speakers are a must have. I invested in some good speakers earlier on. Often think how much money celebrities spend on looking the way they do? The clothes they wear, the accessories that they carry, all cost a bomb! No wonder we can’t look the way they do! But do you really have to dress expensive to dress smart? I think with some wherewithal and a little investigating you can find places to buy that which looks like it could be a designer item, but isn’t! Call them knock-offs, copies, lookalikes, replicas or call them ‘inspired by’, whatever way you look at it, it is well worth checking out the possibilities.

Check out this very red-carpet-looking pleated neck tie dress for $29.99 or a smart little black dress for $49.99 at High Maintenance. I liked their inexpensive collection of tops as well. They have some nice distressed denim skirts, camouflage pants and capris too.

If, like me you like handbags, then check out this site which stocks ‘designer inspired’ handbags. I thought some of their leather handbags, like this one, were quite smart. Some of their clutches I found to be rather busy, but some like this one, were quite stylish.

If you like bling, It’s Alot Alike is the place to go. I admit that I am not a bling person, but I really liked this mother of pearl cuff watch for $25. They have plenty of other items claiming to be inspired by designer bracelets, rings, necklaces and a lot of other stuff.

Fashion heaven is a site that stocks ‘designer alternative’ bags, sunglasses and discount bridal accessories. They have some very neat bags in their clearance section, such as this red handbag.

Oh and just by the way, because proms (and obviously prom dresses because it is ALL about the dress) seem to be on a lot of minds, I thought I would also take a look to see what I could find. At shopshop.com, there is quite an extensive and reasonably priced selection. The prom dress shop has an extensive collection of designer and designer-like dresses. Fairy godmother has a selection, some of which I found to be a little risqué, even tarty.
