Shopping Tips for Black Friday

You’re probably familiar with the shopping frenzy that follows Thanksgiving Day – Black Friday, which falls on 29th November 2013 this year. As the first official day to start shopping for Christmas, you have probably encountered not only the great deals available on the day but also the mad rush in stores.

In fact Black Friday is often described as the busiest shopping day of the year so it follows that retailers and marketers want to sweeten the deal and make it all the more appealing to shoppers to make purchases on the day. Here are some tips to get the best out of your Black Friday shopping experiences:

Make a list – this is actually a no brainer, but surprisingly few among us bother to make a list or remember to stick to it. Impulse shopping or shopping without a plan will mean that you end up getting a lot of stuff that you don’t need – stuff that seemed like a good idea at the time, but now seems like a dead loss. Also without a list you will end up forgetting to buy the important stuff and may then regret having let Black Friday pass you buy.

Check out deals in advance – You still have some time to go before Black Friday comes around – check all the stores, both online and offline to see where the genuinely good deals are. Indentify some shops or e-stores that have what you need, and which are genuinely offering discounts and good deals

Check returns policies – Some retailers and stores may be offering great deals but they may be “No Exchange No Return” deals. So if there is a chance that you may want to exchange or return an item, then ensure that that is going to be possible to do.

Buy online – Increasing numbers of people now shop online, particularly on Black Friday. The reason is obvious – battling the hordes in crowded stores, fighting over parking space and coming home with laden arms and sore ankles is a bad option. Clicking the mouse a few times and getting a cheerful delivery person do the heavy lifting for you is a far better option; so shop online.

Be safe – If you do decide to battle the hordes in the stores, ensure that you wear sturdy shoes and carry a good bag to keep your valuables safe.  If you shop online, pick reputable sites with secure shopping options.
