Travel Tips to Save you Money

We haven’t done a ‘how to save money’ post in a while, and goodness knows we all need to save some moolah right now, with the recession hitting hard. So many of us are in financial dire straits that we could as well forget about a holiday! But you know what? You don’t have to, with a little thrift here and some smart cost cutting there, you can have yourself a good holiday or at least a decent one!

Plan and book early

Did you know that airlines start releasing cheap seats four months before departure, and if you’re looking for an international ticket, the shopping can start five to six months beforehand? [Read more →]

Baby Shower Gift Ideas

A friend is in the family way and I have been wondering what to give her as a baby shower gift. There is a bunch of ideas I had: some item of furniture for the nursery, or an infant toy, a stroller, a playpen, a baby monitor etc. if it is something more expensive I could get together with other friends to pool together and buy. Then asked her what she would like and now it is a tossup between a baby bed and a good diaper bag.

I find a lot of mothers thank the fact that they have a Moses basket or a bassinet. One mother I know carried it around till her baby was over a year old so that she could put her down for a nap anywhere. So I thought this one was really economical for $69.50. The only problem with it of course is that it is outgrown by the baby rather early, so I thought of a cot, which could be used over a longer period of time.

In my last post we looked at some cheap and cheerful (or rather free) Valentine’s Day gifts, today let’s look at the touch/feel/taste/hug/smell variety of gift. Well the whole chocolates and flowers and soft toy and romantic card routine may be a little clichéd people, but let me tell you it works every time!

Now e cards on Valentine’s day may not be an great idea, but sometimes it may be all that is possible so you may want to take a look here at some cute e cards for Valentine’s day. If you would rather send e roses and not the huggable variety of animation, look here; a plethora of red roses!

Yes I know this is really cheesy, but we girls can be real suckers for the cheesy, mushy variety of gifts sometimes. So take a look at this 1 GB lover’s edition player which is available for the wholesale price of $34.99, down from $48.00 and whatever you say about it, I think it’s cute!

Valentine’s Day Ideas

Yes I know all the reasons why Valentine’s Day should not be such a big deal: after all why should you wait for this one day every year to tell your loved ones how much you love them and what if you don’t have a significant other in your life right now, etc.

But then there are so many reasons that you should celebrate Valentine’s Day: for one it is a good idea to make the extra effort to make a special someone feel special, and any excuse for a celebration is a good excuse, and so what if you don’t have that one special someone in your life, family, friends, any and all dear ones count. Show them that they count, that they mean something to you; be it by deed, word or indeed gift. This post of mine is about all the things that you can give that won’t cost you a thing; just the thing for the recession:

The President’s Biggest Challenge: It’s All about the Money!

The United States has a brand new president; those of us who watched the live presentation of the Inauguration certainly saw history being made! However his presidency is fraught with unenviable challenges which people expect him to sort out right away: the US currently is facing its worst economic crisis since the Great Depression in the 1930s. And since it is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY (which is also this blog’s tagline in case you didn’t notice) I thought it makes sense to make ourselves aware of what it is that the new president and his Vice President plan to do to pull the US out of the black hole of economic depression that it is currently sunk into. Let us take a look at how the new broom plans to sweep clean the economic mess.
