The Offensive Israeli
Over the past few weeks I have been watching the Israel Gaza conflict unfold, in horror and in indignation: horror at what Israel was doing and indignation that no one in the world was doing anything to stop it. I feel indignant at the nonchalant way in which Israel creates incursions into territory that is not its own, attacks with impunity and kills with utter brutality with no regard for whether it was a child that was killed or a hospital that was bombed. The current ceasefire has done little to undo the harm done.

I wonder if any country in the world (with the exception of the United States with whose blessings and with whose support Israel dares to act with such utter brazenness) would be permitted to commit such acts of aggression against another people, killing civilians including children in their hundreds. By labeling the Hamas a terrorist organization and their fire cracker rockets as military offensives against the Israeli citizenry, the Israel military has reacted completely out of proportion to the provocation. Half a dozen or less Israeli citizens die and more than a thousand, two hundred Palestinians, hundreds of children among them die…. Where is the justice in this! How is this complete over reaction going to increase Israel’s security? Even French president Sarkozy thinks this is not going to reinforce Israel’s security.
To defend the preponderance of civilian casualties among those dead in Gaza, the Israelis conveniently explain it away by saying that the Hamas militia use civilians as shields. How can the suffering and death caused to civilians fall within the ambit of Israel’s right to defend itself!
I think of what rage and powerlessness the people of Gaza may feel against such an unchecked and flagrant Israeli onslaught. It is not unimaginable that a child orphaned in this offensive grew up and became a suicide bomber who went and blew himself up in a busy Israeli locality.
There are prominent Jews who have spoken out against Israel, condemning its actions, because not only is there military action by the Israelis, they have cut off the sources of food, water, electricity and aid to the Gaza strip. Horrified Jewish academicians are reminded of the siege of the Warsaw Ghetto, when they see this and the dead and bloodied bodies of young children.
A telling statement was made by Jewish comedian, TV personality and fiction writer Alexi Sayle. He said: “I want to one day be proud of my country – of that country. I want one day to be proud of my people, but at the moment I am ashamed…..”

Hey Nicole, you know I am good for some comments. lol
About this Israeli drama. I do not agree with the way that they’re are attacking and I would think that they would try to be better and more moral than their counter parts, BUT
Win you’re you’ve been being attacked without any rules and being terrorized for so long and you just keep sitting back, you finally get fed up. Plus the people who they are fighting don’t play fair either, in defense or in offense. So, this is a very hard argument.

Just imagine your country being showered by rockets every day, day in and day out from across the border! Your countrymen, women and children are getting killed, your property is being damaged. What would you advise your government to do?
Also imagine, that the people who are firing those rockets are those that openly state that their sole purpose in life is to destroy your country come what may. What would your advise your government to do?
What would you do, if your husband, child, parents, family and friends are scared to move out of their homes for fear of being killed by a stray rocket which can come any moment and land at any place?

The question is that of proportion. Yes the Israelis have been targeted, but all their neighbors are also targeted by them, they too live in fear of Israeli offensives all the time. The argument of self defence simply does not cut it this time. Hope the cease fire holds.

I agree with you. These kids paying their last respects to their departed friend will develop a strong spirit of vengeance and they will easily sacrifice their lives as suicide bombers against the Israelites. Sad to note that the problems in the Middle East are endless.

Very sad to see that picture. Children do not deserve this. May comfort and peace be with them all.

That picture alone says a thousand words about the disgusting, pathetic, heartless Israelis. I don’t think they are any lesser than the terrorists.

all war is offensive but, against harmless children is unspeakable and no man who claims to have a god can justify killing innocents in any cause. yuk

No words can truly express the disgust and infuriation felt on watching these images and reading about the plight of the people there. I wish we could do more than just stand by and watch!

Israeli terrorism is still terrorism. The U.S. is finally awakening to the fact that we NEVER should’ve thrown down with them in the Carter admin. The whole world is seeing that Israel exports terrorism to other countries and is funded by money from American Jews, most of whom really think they are serving their religion by sending funds to Israel. It is no different than The Crusades; killing in the name of religion.
