Back to School Discounts from Target
If you or your kids did any back to school purchases recently, you will have noticed how the weakened economy has made manufacturers and retailers alike slash prices to the extent that you may almost think that you are in a time warp as NY Times reported last month. “A penny these days buys eight No. 2 pencils at Staples or a wooden ruler at OfficeMax. Fifty cents buys a watercolor set at Target. A box of 24 Crayola crayons is the cost of a gumball – 25 cents. Or, as Sharon Hartley, vice president for United States marketing and sales for Crayola, put it: “Sixteen boxes of a 24-pack equals a gallon of gas.” Puts things in perspective doesn’t it!
Target has a great collection of all things back to school such as furniture, bedroom items, dorm essentials, electronics, kitchen essentials, all categorized by budget (under $10 to under $200). I really liked this 6 piece luggage set for $149. Really smart, practical and has free shipping as well!
I thought this 10 piece cookware set (that’s 6 pans, and 4 lids) was really neat for 159.99, especially with free shipping!
There are certain space savers which can be really invaluable in a dorm room or similar shared accommodation. This 6 shelf hanging closet organizer is a really useful item and would be useful for any kids’ room I think. Not pricey at $ 24.99 either! It has 6 shelving cubes that are ideal for shirts or sweaters; also includes 12 mesh pockets on the sides for accessories or shoes etc. I think I am getting one of these myself, I think I need some organizing!

I lurve me some Target! I just became their “friend” on Facebook. Which means we have to go out for drinks whenever Target is in town.

Very good blog and I have been reading for a few weeks now. Target is probably great for discounted higher end products but there are cheaper places to try. Especially in these times there are bargains on craigslist for stuff an also huge sales at many stores. Keep looking and you will find the bargains. good luck
