Jewelry: Deals and Discounts

Now jewelry is not something that you and I buy routinely or casually, usually it is a rare buy for a special occasion or a special gift for a special someone. Certainly an excellent gift if that special someone is a woman! After all jewelry (not just diamonds) are supposed to be a girl’s best friend. If for instance a very good friend or close relative is getting married, or expecting a child or turning 25 or whatever, it behooves one to make a pretty substantial gift on the occasion.

Silver ringSilver earrings or a silver ring would be a very appropriate for someone turning 25 (silver jubilee, 25 years get it?). Overstock has some beautiful designs on sale here, and I loved this Silver Filigree ring at 52% off for $23.99. The sales page has plenty of really pretty designs of rings, earrings, pendants, bangles, bracelets etc. Really worth a look see.

Some Style Tips: Look Great on a Budget

Snake facialWhy do celebs look so great? Yes, spending mega bucks on designer clothing, grooming and accessories, having a personal stylist, is all part of the package; after all part of the job description is to look great; but what is also part of the deal is something a little more elusive, more subtle. It is about having a personal sense of style (or in some cases a lack thereof). There are ways in which you and I can look great with a limited budget, by taking care of certain details.

Good Deals on Lawn and Garden Products

Did I ever tell you what my most favorite pastime in the world is? It is to be out in the garden and read a book while the birds chirp quietly around me. So in aid of this lazy hobby of mine and the fact that casual entertaining is always best out in the garden, (and garden ‘dos’ are quite the norm at our house) I like to have some nice lawn and garden items around me, since I really enjoy spending time out of doors.

Patio furnitureSo for those casual get together of family or friends this 10 piece patio set I really liked available for $284.99, down from $549.99. For this price you get the glass dining table, 4 sling chair, 2 sling recliners and two sling ottonams. Now if you have a pool to set it up next to, wonderful, if not, never mind, your friends will still love it!

Comics by Email

I want to take my own advice and cut down on one of the family’s recurring expenditures: that of the daily news paper. After all reading the news on the internet slakes my (limited) thirst for current affairs and information. The one thing that is making me chary of taking action here is the fact that I will not have access to the comics section of the newspaper (I admit that I am one of those who scans the headlines and heads for the comics section right away). The internet (its wonders never cease!) provides me a solution to this as well.

If, like me you like Peanuts, then the Peanuts site is a must visit for you. Read a months’ worth of comics, send a comic to a friend, or send an e card from here.

The Most Expensive….

After a really long time I wanted to do a post about the most expensive things (I did one way back in January on what to do if you have extra money to spend), rather than my usual bargain hunting posts. I figure that one really should be aware of all the really expensive things in life in order to understand that a lot of people really have money to burn! So to start off with, the most expensive….

Marilyn Monroe dressDress, is a dress of Marilyn Monroe that in 1999, fetched over $1.26 million at a New York auction. Monroe wore the dress to celebrate John F. Kennedy’s 45th birthday at a spectacular party in Madison Square Garden when she sang “Happy Birthday”. She had supposedly been sewn into the skin-tight dress for the occasion.

Planning a Vacation?

Have you planned a holiday recently? With so many nitty-gritties to take care of, and making sure it stays within budget, it can become quite an arduous task. Yet, a perfect holiday with the loved one is sure to make all the efforts worth it. I need to plan one such fantastic vacation with my significant other. It has been quite a while since we took off on our own for some together time.

So in order to make this work, I was recently looking for sites that could help me find good deals on my travel, hotel accommodation, sightseeing etc. This one had a good search feature to search up the cheapest airline tickets. What is more, they offered higher savings if you booked your airline tickets and hotel accommodation both through them. Again, you can easily search for cheap hotels by city. Now all we need to do is reach a consensus on the destination!

How To Save Effectively

I know that I usually suggest to you ways to relieve you of your cash (albeit at a discount) by telling about all the fabulous deals around, but regular readers will know that I like to talk about saving as well, from time to time, such as how to save on groceries, how to reduce your gas bill, etc. Today I just want share some general tips about saving, which I picked up from here and there.

Make a balance sheet: You don’t have to do this your entire life, just do in for a few months: track all expenses, make a note of them; remember to add even the smallest outflow from your pocket. This is a great way to figure out that perennial question where did the money go! This also comes in handy when you are trying to prioritize spending and for drawing up a budget plan. Make a budget and STICK TO IT!

Discount DVDs

I may have mentioned that I have nephews and nieces that I need to buy presents for, from time to time. This time is a rather studious child that I have to buy a present for, so I thought that an interactive educational CD or DVD would be just the thing.

Chemistry DVDsSo I found this site very interesting indeed, where they have a page full of free DVD offers, where you pay only for shipping and delivery. There are titles available such as The Amazing Human Body, Chemistry Experiments, Biology experiments, Frog Dissection, Easy Guitar and Easy Piano and also other titles like Easy Home Massage, Easy Yoga, Travel to France etc. [Read more →]
