Digital Cameras: Deals and Discounts

I am desirous of new camera. I do not really need one; I have a perfectly adequate Canon 5 megapixel camera which takes very competent photos and even small video clips, but like I said I desire a new one. I covet all of the fancier newer models out there.

Olympus cameraNow this Olympus 7.1 MP camera is supposed to be “Shockproof. Waterproof. Freezeproof. Crushproof.’ and is touted as “world’s most durable digital camera”! It is listed on Amazon for a mere $199 at a whopping 47% discount and I really have my beady eye on that one!

pink polaroid cameraOK now I admit it: I like pink, and I would sacrifice some features for a pink camera. There I said it and don’t care if you think I’m nuts. But I really think this 7 MP Polaroid camera is so pretty! And what a good deal at $99!

Kodak cameraThen this Easyshare 10 MP camera from Kodak is both compact and pretty and for the price of $104.99, it is a pretty good deal too I thought. Then this 8.1 MP Kodak easyshare camera for $92.99 also I thought was a really good deal.

Keychain cameraNow if you are a regular reader here, you’ll know that I love all this novelty stuff (clock pendant, mp3phone etc), so how’s this for a novelty item: a keychain digital camera for $15.99. A this price though I would assume that it is a not a high resolution camera, most likely not even 1 MP.

Kids cameraI also liked this kids camera for $49.99. Sturdily built for a typical kid’s rough handling, it can record and playback both stills and video clips! Again, what megapixel is not mentioned so I’m thinking must be another low resolution camera.

That is quite a bit of food for thought I’ve given myself here. But you know what? My trusty Canon has served me well for a year and a half now, and has given me no problems whatsoever. Maybe I’ll stick with it for a while. Perhaps I’ll get myself a good quality Camcorder instead? Maybe we’ll save that for another post.

I’m sure the kids would love that one. A shock proof camera sounds really apt for me too. LOL.

  3. The Olympus SW series are brilliant. We bought them for our contractors when carrying out a large project in the power/telco space, and at the end of the project they all looked like brand new. They guys aren’t too harsh on equipment, but they were in dirty, dusty, wet environments at times, and never had an issue with any of them.

As for us personally, we bought a new one and use it for sailing, and the only thing to worry about is holding onto it during the racing :-)

  6. I recently lost my small camera but can’t justify buying a new one because I got a fancy digital SLR for christmas (for my new photography hobby, which I’m yet to start!) I’m after a new phone though, so I’m going to get one with a decent camera.

Thats a good idea. It makes sense to buy all in one devices these days if your usage is not professional. I love the phones with music and video players along with cameras.

  7. Personally, I always prefer Cannons. Back a few years ago when I was a lowly Best Buy salesman, I sold digital cameras. I got to know the product line extremely well, and couldn’t have been more impressed than with the Cannons.

  11. I threw away my camera when I got my iPhone. But then, I’m not a serious photographer. I believe I’m up to 10 pictures of my dog, one of my knee, and one of a deck railing on there. Hm, I don’t think I even qualify as a mediocre photographer. ;)

  13. I really like that kids cam. I will have to look into getting one for my kid. He already broke one of my cameras, so if I get one that he is less likely to break, he won’t touch mine.

    Thanks!

  14. Nice post but I want to add one more thing to it and that is: what ever you buy just read the reviews and blogs related to that product online and also compare the product prices online. This way you will get better and cheaper product.

Thanks for posting this blog :)
